Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Fort Lauderdale, known as the "Venice of America" due to its expansive and intricate canal system, is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. According to 2006 U.S. Census Bureau estimates, the city had a population of 185,804. It is the county seat of Broward County and a principal city of the South Florida metropolitan area, which is home to 5,463,857 people.

Fort Lauderdale is named after a series of forts built by the United States during the Second Seminole War. However, development of the city did not begin until 50 years after the forts were abandoned at the end of the conflict. Three forts named "Fort Lauderdale" were constructed; the first was at the fork of the New River, the second at Tarpon Bend, in what is now known as the Sailboat Bend neighborhood, and the third near the site of the Bahia Mar Marina. The forts took their name from Major William Lauderdale, who was the commander of the detachment of soldiers who built the first fort.

Stone paving assisted us with design of our patio project and executed very well. They completed the project on time and on budget.

On the southern edge of Shady Banks is the Bill Keith Preserve Park. It's a peaceful, shady nature preserve along the banks of the New River. It features mulched paths and wooden board walks with seating areas among the trees. One can observe blue crabs, fish, and all sorts of water birds, as well as passing boaters who frequently greet you. It's a great place to sit and sketch nature, stroll, picnic, or meditate. There are periodic volunteer clean up events in case any teens or scout troops need community service hours

A City of Fort Lauderdale park in the heart of Shady Banks. Hortt Park has taken over the entire former school site. As of 2015, it has a beautiful new community center, playground, sand volleyball, soccer field, softball field, two half court basketball, a full tennis court, exercise path with outdoor gym equipment. Many neighborhood activities occur there throughout the year, such as the semi-annual neighborhood yard sales, Christmas hayride and potluck dinner, Easter egg hunts, movies in the park, and more.
